CURENTIS remains climate neutral
Since the end of 2020, CURENTIS AG has been involved in the field of Sustainable Finance and has since developed an extensive range of consulting services in addition to many specialist articles, white papers and web seminars. At the same time, we were aware that the first step must always be with ourselves. For this reason, in addition to building up the consulting business, we have also been consistently implementing sustainability at CURENTIS since 2021.
In order for us to be able to call CURENTIS a sustainable company, we relied on our simple four-step plan, as we did last year. We start by identifying where we emitCO2. We then analyze the various aspects to identify the main drivers and uncover potential for improvement. In the third step, measures are developed and implemented. Finally, unavoidable emissions are calculated at the end of the year and offset by suitable climate projects.
For the year 2022, we had to report a significant increase inCO2 emissions despite various measures. However, the reasons for this are less due to inadequate measures than to the major growth we have experienced at CURENTIS. In addition, due to the decline in the Corona pandemic, the amount of travel required for customer projects has risen significantly again.
As part of our goal to remain climate neutral, CURENTIS has decided to purchase certificates worth 50 tons ofCO2 from our partner Klimamoor. This will significantly overcompensate for the emissions incurred in 2022, so that the inaccuracies in the calculation are also safely covered.
The purchase ofCO2 certificates offsets the emission of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere by funding projects elsewhere that reduce emissions or storeCO2. Klimamoor is a company that specializes in the development of climate protection projects and offersCO2 certificates from peatland protection projects. Peatland conservation projects have a great impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as peatlands can store large amounts ofCO2. The purchase ofCO2 certificates from Klimamoor therefore supports the conservation of peatlands and at the same time contributes to the reduction ofCO2 emissions.
By deciding to remain climate neutral in 2022, CURENTIS AG is demonstrating its commitment to climate protection and its responsibility for the impact of its business activities on the environment. The company is thus making an important contribution to reducingCO2 emissions and preserving our environment.
