CURENTIS bees have moved in
Unusual increase in skilled workers at CURENTIS AG. Starting in April, a busy bee colony will be living on the beefuture site at Ammersee. CURENTIS is thus supporting the beefuture project and making an important contribution to the ecological balance in the region.
Work begins for beefuture founder Frank Weiß as early as sunrise on an April morning. He is making preparations to set up a beehive on the grounds of the Ammersee, so that from midday onwards, busy pollen collectors will have a new home. With his "beefuture" project, the 49-year-old is fighting bee mortality. "Since the 1960s, the bee population in Germany has more than halved," says Frank Weiß. "This is a dramatic problem for our ecosystem. After all, 80 percent of all plants depend on pollination by bees. Without them, the yields of many domestic fruits and vegetables would drop dramatically, and supermarket shelves would be empty."
Sea of flowers and top honey
Since 2015, beefuture has therefore been working with communities, authorities and companies to promote bee growth in the individual regions. When CURENTIS became aware of beefuture, the decision to invest in bee colonies was made quickly. In addition to offsetting ourCO2 emissions, CURENTIS wants to make a contribution to society and the environment. Without bees, our ecosystem has no future. This is a problem we can tackle together effectively and visibly."
"We take care of and look after the colonies," says beefuture managing director Frank Weiß. "However, we intervene as little as possible in the life within the hives, as we attach importance to natural processes - this protects the bees and thus incidentally allows a particularly high-quality honey to be produced."
Well positioned for species protection
At the end of July, the beefuture team harvests the first honey, which is then given to employees and customers in CURENTIS jars. In this way, CURENTIS supports the protection of biodiversity and the bee in particular. At the same time, we look forward to holding our honey jars in our hands in a few months and seeing that our bee colony on Lake Ammersee is doing well.
This is beefuture
Since 2015, Frank Weiß has been operating sustainable nature and environmental protection throughout the German-speaking region. Partner companies invest in bee colonies, among other things, and the beefuture teams then take care of their maintenance, provide beekeeping services, and handle all official registrations. In addition, Frank Weiß and his colleagues organize bee events and information days at participating companies.
